In 1910, Nathan Chaffin Pedley of Pomona and friends purchased from Samuel Striplin what became later known as Pedley Valley, with Pedley becoming the sole owner in a few years. N.C. Pedley and sons planted apple trees, and spent periods of time there with family on what they called El Molino ranch. Subsequent owners of some of the Pedley land were Charles Darby of La Jolla and the Palomar Mountain Water Company.
